Nolus Protocol
Nolus Protocol defines a money market between lenders looking to earn real yield on deposited stablecoins and borrowers looking to amplify their holdings with more assets than their current equity. The protocol is designed to work on a cash-basis model, where accrued interest from DeFi leases is distributed to lenders. Interest from leases is due for collection after specific periods and, if not paid, is automatically deducted from the active positions.
Core Features
- DeFi Lease: Nolus allows borrowers to secure up to 150% financing on their initial investment, reducing over-collateralization requirements and improving capital efficiency. This financing model is inspired by traditional leasing, where customers can secure assets by paying a part of their total value upfront and acquiring full ownership after settling the loan. In Nolus, this translates to amplifying cryptocurrency holdings while maintaining a lowered margin call risk.
- Interoperability and Security: The protocol utilizes a semi-permissioned Proof-of-Stake (PoS) blockchain built using the Cosmos SDK and a WASM smart contract engine. This setup focuses on interoperability, security, and performance. Interchain Accounts and the Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) protocol are used to tap into various liquidity hubs across blockchain networks, minimizing fragmentation.
- Incentivization and Rewards: Lenders are incentivized by additional rewards above the initially agreed interest, with the release of NLS tokens from the Incentivization Pool. This mechanism attracts capital during early stages of development and adjusts in proportion to the protocol’s growing Total Value Locked (TVL).
- Liquidations and Risk Management: Partial liquidations are implemented to mitigate the risk of significant losses for borrowers. This approach ensures the Loan-to-Value (LTV) remains within a healthy range, giving borrowers time to recover their positions and minimize collateral loss.
- Token and Governance: The NLS token serves as a governance token, allowing staked token holders to influence the protocol’s future. Additionally, it is used to settle transaction fees and empowers users to access exclusive down payment options and reduced interest rates within the DeFi Lease.
