About Monero
Monero (/məˈnɛroʊ/; Abbreviation: XMR) is a cryptocurrency built on a blockchain that utilizes privacy-enhancing technologies to obscure transactions for anonymity and fungibility. Observers can not trace addresses trading Monero, transaction amounts, address balances, or transaction histories.
Development
The protocol is open source and based on CryptoNote. Developed originally by Nicolas van Saberhagen, its mainnet was deployed in 2014. Monero has its roots in CryptNote that was first described in a white paper published in 2013.
Privacy and Anonymity
Monero obfuscates transactions and optionally shares view keys for audits. Transactions are validated using a miner network and the RandomX proof-of-work algorithm. The algorithm issues new coins to miners and was designed for resistance against ASIC mining.

- Smallest unit: Piconero (10^-12 XMR) is the smallest unit of Monero.

- Inflation: Monero has perpetual inflation, but its inflation rate decreases over time.
