Mars Protocol is a credit protocol, often referred to as a money market, that originated on Terra and has since evolved to operate on the Cosmos ecosystem. It allows users to borrow and lend cryptocurrencies securely and transparently. Key features include its use of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) for its "Rovers" feature, which enables liquidity providers to optimize their earnings and manage risk more effectively.
On January 31, 2023, Mars Protocol launched its mainnet on Cosmos, enabling its availability on Osmosis, Cosmos' largest decentralized exchange. This included the introduction of Farm Vaults, which allow users to increase their earnings from their Osmosis liquidity provider positions while understanding how minor decisions impact their risk profile.
Expansion and Development
Mars Protocol also extended the lock-up period for its governance token by six months to ensure platform stability and strengthen its governance structure. It further introduced its Risk Framework 2.0, designed to provide users with a robust system for managing risks on the platform.
Community Engagement
In a gesture of commitment to its user base, Mars Protocol distributed Terra Classic MARS tokens to users who held them during snapshots. This action demonstrates the protocol's dedication to rewarding its loyal users and fostering a strong community.
