Manna (MONA), a cryptocurrency launched as Grantcoin (GRT) on May 1, 2015, is primarily distributed by a charitable nonprofit organization as Universal Basic Income to people globally. Its technology is based on Peercoin (PPCoin), a derivative of Bitcoin. Similar to Bitcoin, the Manna network currently employs SHA-256 Proof-of-Work mining for block rewards, distinct from Peercoin's Proof-of-Stake system.
