MAI (Fantom)
MAI is a stablecoin protocol designed for extracting value from priced assets developed by the QiDao Protocol. The protocol is open source and noncustodial, allowing users to borrow stablecoins without having to sell their crypto assets at 0% interest. MAI is overcollateralized and backed by collateral locked in user-managed vaults. The protocol relies on Chainlink price feeds for pricing all accepted collateral.
MAI is available on multiple chains, including Polygon, Fantom, Avalanche, Arbitrum, Harmony, Moonriver, and Gnosis Chain. The protocol has achieved a significant presence across several decentralized exchanges (DEXs), particularly on Curve, where it hosts the largest pools on Curve Polygon and Curve Fantom. MAI has maintained its peg throughout various market downturns.
The protocol allows users to mint MAI by locking their tokens as collateral. Users are charged a 0.5% fee upon repayment rather than interest. With a total value locked (TVL) of approximately $310 million and over 250 million MAI minted, MAI is one of the most widely available crosschain assets, bridging to 18 chains.
