LUKSO is a crypto project that underwent a public funding process via a Reversible Initial Coin Offering (rICO) on the Ethereum blockchain in 2020. It allowed participants to purchase LYXe tokens at a specific price over eight months without a commitment to the full sale duration. The participants could discontinue and retrieve their remaining Ether at any time.

The LYXe token contract is implemented as ERC777, which offers enhanced functionality and user experience compared to the traditional ERC20 standard. The key features of ERC777 include send and receive hooks for advanced token operations. The rICO was designed by Fabian Vogelsteller to ensure fairer token sales and greater protection for buyers.

LUKSO's Genesis Deposit Contract played a critical role in determining the token supply. Validators deposited LYXe and voted for either 35 million, 42 million, or 100 million LYX. The majority (84.2%) voted for 42 million LYX, which was subsequently implemented as the mainnet token supply.

The Genesis Deposit Contract features static deposit amounts of 32 LYX and a freeze mechanism to prevent duplicate deposits. Validators could choose from three genesis files, which stored public keys, deposits, and votes on-chain for public verification.
