Kintsugi is Interlay's experiment networking with real economic value, deployed on Kusama, aimed at connecting cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin to DeFi platforms like Polkadot and Ethereum. It has its native token called KINT, which is used for governance votes and processing transaction fees. Kintsugi's flagship product is kBTC, a 1:1 Bitcoin-backed asset on Kusama with multi-collateral insurance, providing a secure and decentralized platform. The Kintsugi network was launched on October 13, 2021, with an unlimited KINT supply and a 2% annual inflation starting from the fifth year. Founders Alexei Zamyatin and Dominik Harz started the project during their PhDs at Imperial College London in 2017.
