The Karat project uses on-chain Multi-Party Computation (MPC) and Zero-Knowledge Proof (ZKP) technologies to create a shareable Web 2 & 3 ID data layer. This encrypted data is linked to users' wallets and stored on the InterPlanetary File System (IPFS), giving users decentralized control over their data permissions.

This encrypted data is linked to users' wallets and stored on the InterPlanetary File System (IPFS), giving users decentralized control over their data permissions.
Karat is unique for being the largest and most active protocol on Zksync and has over 250,000 KYC wallets. It also has several high-profile genesis validators and a KOL matrix, managing these users. Its infrastructure allows varying data access levels for different Decentralized Applications (Dapps).
The project was launched through an Initial DEX Offering (IDO) on the project's official website from 7/19 to 8/19, in two rounds. Karat tokens (KATs) are reserved mainly for mining, team operation, investors, and advisors.
Future plans for Karat include developing a specific EIP standard, revolutionizing online authorization, partnering with notable identity providers, and incorporating zero-knowledge (ZK) technology to boost data ownership and privacy.
KATs can be used to access private chat rooms and mint a Karat ID. Over 350,000 users have currently created their Karat ID. Tokens can also be used for validator staking, growth staking, and making data requests.
