Idena is a novel blockchain solution that formalises people without personally identifiable information. It ensures the humanness and uniqueness of its participants through an AI-resistant test that runs simultaneously worldwide. The blockchain operates using a Proof-of-Person (PoP) consensus mechanism, where every node is linked to a single person with equal voting power. This approach solves the blockchain oracle problem as independent mining nodes can act as oracles, ensuring decentralization.
To participate in the network, users need to download the Idena app and receive an invitation code from a validated participant. The blockchain allows for democratic access to mining, requiring only an average laptop with an internet connection. Validators on the network are coordinated through a 1-person-1-vote consensus, ensuring the security and diversity of the network.
Idena's design promotes decentralization by providing higher returns for smaller stakes, preventing capital concentration and encouraging individual mining. Its unique Proof-of-Personhood mechanism maximizes rewards for individual miners and prevents the dominance of wealthier stakeholders. The blockchain also supports identity staking for IRC20 tokens and is suitable for building applications such as plutocracy-resistant DAOs.
Idena's architecture includes a system of FLIP-tests, which become increasingly difficult over time to encourage AI-resistant solutions. These tests are used to train a friendly AI that helps participants filter out trivial flips and mitigate attacks from hostile AI-bots.
