Indigo Protocol v1, a CDP-based DeFi protocol, in November 2022, launched iBTC, a synthetic analog of Bitcoin for the Cardano ecosystem. It allows users to purchase iBTC from a DEX like any Cardano asset or mint it by depositing ADA as collateral within the Indigo Protocol. Users must maintain their CDP above the Minimum Collateralization Ratio (MCR) with adequate ADA deposits. If the ADA collateral value decreases towards the MCR, users can add more collateral or, if collateral value falls below the iBTC debt's MCR, the Indigo Stability Pool exchanges it for the user’s higher value ADA collateral. The Indigo DAO manages iBTC parameters and can alter the MCR. Meaningfully, Indigo users still receive their ADA staking rewards even when ADA is held as collateral.
