Horizon Protocol zBNB is a synthetic asset within Horizon Protocol, a decentralized derivatives trading and liquidity protocol. Horizon Protocol bridges traditional financial markets and decentralized finance (DeFi) through synthetic assets, which are tokenized derivatives representing the value of an underlying asset without requiring actual possession of the asset.
Horizon Protocol zBNB represents the synthetic version of BNB, the native coin on the BNB Chain. This synthetic asset is backed by the Horizon Protocol liquidity system and serves as a secondary on/off-ramp for users to access synthetic assets on the open market, in addition to the primary asset, zUSD. A secondary market for zAssets allows non-protocol participants to access and arbitrage price deviations without having to collateralize the assets through staking.

The Horizon Protocol ecosystem consists of two main components: Stake, which allows users to create synthetic assets, and Trade (Spot/Futures), which enables trading in synthetic assets including long and short positions.
