Gyroscope is a decentralized protocol designed to issue a fully-backed stablecoin with algorithmic price bounding and all-weather reserves:
- Fully Backed Stablecoin: The Gyroscope stablecoin, called Gyro Dollars (GYD), aims for a long-term reserve ratio of 100%. Each unit of GYD is backed by $1 worth of collateral.
- All-Weather Reserve: The reserve is a diversified basket of protocol-controlled assets that collectively collateralize the issued stablecoin. Initially, most assets will be other stablecoins, aiming to mitigate various risks in DeFi, including price, censorship, regulatory, counterparty, oracle, and governance risks.
- Algorithmic Price Bounding: Prices for minting and redeeming stablecoins are set algorithmically to balance maintaining a tight peg and ensuring long-term project viability in the face of short-term crises.
Gyroscope's novel features include elliptic concentrated liquidity pools (E-CLPs), designed to improve liquidity provider capital efficiency and offer greater flexibility in managing liquidity. E-CLPs are integrated with GYD to enhance stability and provide a more efficient collateral class for backing the stablecoin.
