The Global Earth Observation Decentralized Network (GEODNET) is a decentralized network of Space Weather mining stations that reports real-time data on the Sun’s solar winds and how they affect the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) signals. This information is used to correct GNSS signals and offer high-accuracy positioning and time accuracy. GEODNET is a unique Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Network (DePIN) project with over 3000 nodes supporting various applications like Automotive/Autonomous Navigation, Earthquake/Geohazard Monitoring, and more.
GEODNET was first introduced at the 2021 GNSS+ conference and has grown rapidly since the deployment of mining stations in March 2022. The project generated on-chain revenue in April 2023, and had a $1.5M token purchase investment led by Bordeless Capital in July 2023. The project aims to grow data users in robotics, drones and mobile app areas, and enhance network coverage in areas needing more station coverage.
GEODNET tokens can be used for availing data streams and services, rewarding Space Weather Miners, staking for new high-value SuperHex, governance votes and for discounts and purchases of mining equipment.
