Forint

The Forint (sign: Ft; code: HUF) is the official and national currency of Hungary. It was introduced on August 1, 1946, replacing the Hungarian adópengő. The Forint was previously divided into 100 fillér, but fillér coins have not been in circulation since 1999 due to high inflation.

The currency is issued and managed by the Hungarian National Bank. Banknotes come in denominations of 500 Ft, 1,000 Ft, 2,000 Ft, 5,000 Ft, 10,000 Ft, and 20,000 Ft, while coins are issued in denominations of 5 Ft, 10 Ft, 20 Ft, 50 Ft, 100 Ft, and 200 Ft.
