FON Smart Chain is a public blockchain that leverages a system of 21 active validators employing a Proof of Staked Authority (APoS) consensus mechanism. This architecture supports short block times and lower fees. The most bonded validator candidates through staking will become active validators, producing blocks and earning gas fees. Double-sign detection and slashing logic ensure the security and stability of the chain.
Beyond the 21 active validators, FON Smart Chain includes additional validators, known as "Candidates," which serve as backups and produce blocks less frequently. These Candidates will also receive gas fees but at a lower rate. In the event of a majority of active validators being attacked and taken offline, Candidate Validators can report to Beacon Chain and eventually propose a re-election of the active validator set.
The FON Smart Chain is also EVM-compatible, supporting smart contracts and protocols. It natively supports interoperability, allowing for cross-chain transactions and communication. Binance DEX remains a prominent trading venue for asset exchange on both chains.
