What is fUSDC?

fUSDC is a token integrated into the Flux Finance Protocol. It is a fork of Compound V2's cTokens, incorporating additional features to support permissioned assets. Each asset on Flux Finance, like fUSDC, is supported by a fToken contract, which represents the balances supplied to the protocol.

Minting fUSDC

fUSDC is minted when users deposit USDC on Flux Finance. This makes their USDC available for borrowing and earns the USDC supply rate. The value of fUSDC increases relative to the underlying USDC due to the interest it earns. The supply rate varies dependent on the market's utilization, which is the percentage of deposited assets that have been borrowed.

History of fUSDC

fUSDC was launched by Flux Finance, which initially developed from the Decentralized lending protocol conceived by Ondo Finance. Flux Finance is governed by the Ondo DAO, where ONDO holders vote on upgrades and risk parameters. fUSDC was among the first assets to be supported, alongside fDAI and fOUSG.

Use Cases for fUSDC

• Collateral: Users can mint fUSDC to earn interest and use it as collateral.
• Transfer: fUSDC can be transferred, which corresponds to transferring the underlying USDC balance inside the Flux Finance protocol. Transfers that cause negative account liquidity for borrowers will fail.
• Settlement: fUSDC offers an alternative settlement option between parties.
