Evernode
Evernode is a layer 2 smart contract platform designed for the XRP ecosystem. It aims to bring "layer 2" smart contracts to the XRP Ledger, combining a unique consensus protocol, native currency, and integration with the XRP Ledger's decentralized exchange.

- HotPocket Protocol: A consensus protocol that allows multiple machines to form a mini-blockchain by enforcing consensus rules on inputs and outputs and maintaining a shared, canonical state.
- Evers (EVR): The native digital currency, an XRP Ledger token distributed to reward nodes for participating and used by dApps to pay hosting fees.
- Evernode Hook: A Hook on the XRP Ledger that controls Evers emission, confirms node membership, and facilitates payment through the decentralized exchange.
- DEX Integration: Utilizes the XRP Ledger's native decentralized exchange to automate buying and selling hosting services with Evers.
- Governance Game: Enables Evers holders to govern key parameters of the Evernode Hook through a game-like mechanism.
- Ecosystem Curator: A not-for-profit foundation to curate the ecosystem and maintain the open-source code.
Functionality
Evernode allows XRP Ledger Accounts to function as "lite smart contracts," creating a permissionless, decentralized network of nodes. This design makes it suitable for running a wide variety of decentralised applications cheaply and speedily, regardless of language or scale.
