Project Description

Echelon is a proposed mixed-use project that was initially planned to be built on the Las Vegas Strip in Winchester, Nevada. The project was designed to include a casino, multiple hotels, restaurants, and a shopping center, along with a convention center and various entertainment venues. The project, to be developed on 63 acres, was originally estimated to cost $4.8 billion and consisted of significant components:

• Echelon Resort: A hotel resort with 3,300 rooms, owned and operated by Boyd Gaming.
• Hotels: Additional hotels included a Shangri-La Hotel, a Mondrian Hotel, and a Delano Hotel, all part of the larger Echelon Complex.
• Las Vegas ExpoCenter: A 650,000 sq ft convention center, with meeting spaces.
• High Street: A 400,000 sq ft shopping center.
• Casino: A 140,000 sq ft gaming area.
• Theater Venues: Two theaters, seating 4,000 and 1,500 people, managed by Anschutz Entertainment Group.
• Parking Garage: A substantial parking facility with nearly 8,000 spaces.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the project occurred in 2007, with an initial projected opening date in the third quarter of 2010. However, the project was never completed.
