Degen Zoo is a unique blockchain-based project designed to raise funds for animal charities. The project employs a trustless token economic game that incentivizes players to kill their NFT animals, mimicking real-world financial incentives contributing to animal extinction. It was founded by the founder of DAO Maker, initially as a challenge to execute a functional version of Logan Paul's Crypto Zoo game in 30 days.
Game Mechanics
- Staking Tokens: Players stake DZOO tokens to earn eggs, with a limited supply of 24,000. The difficulty in obtaining eggs increases over time, similar to the Bitcoin halving model.
- Hatching Eggs: Players burn 25,000 DZOO tokens to hatch eggs, which contain random animals from a collection of 120 endangered species. Each animal has a unique APR ranging from -85% to 1500%.
- Evolving NFTs: NFTs can be evolved by feeding them other animals, which increases their APR and changes their appearance. This process also burns the smaller NFT.
- Killing NFTs: Players kill their animal NFTs to release the locked DZOO tokens. The rarity of the animal species increases if they are killed before maturity.
Token Utilities
DZOO tokens are the core fuel for the Degen Zoo game. They are needed for all game actions, including staking, hatching eggs, evolving, and killing NFTs. The tokens are burned when performing these actions, reducing the circulating supply.
NFT Community Incubator
Degen Zoo allows any artist to create their own animal NFT collection and present it to the DZOO DAO. Approved collections fuel the same game with different metrics.
Charitable Purpose
A 2.5% NFT royalty fee is charged on every trade, with the proceeds going to animal charities and NGOs.
