Carbon USD (USC)
Carbon USD (USC)
Carbon USD (USC) is a decentralized stablecoin pegged to the United States dollar. USC tokens are generated through a collateralized debt position (CDP) on the Carbon protocol via the Nitron Money Market platform. Users lock in collateral, such as other digital assets, to mint the stablecoin, which can be redeemed by burning the USC token. The value of the collateral must maintain a certain percentage, typically around a 150% collateralized ratio, to ensure the stablecoin remains pegged and prevent under-collateralization. If the collateralization ratio is insufficient, the CDP can be liquidated to maintain the stablecoin's value. The model is based on the battle-tested MakerDAO's Collateral Debt Position (CDP) model for the DAI stablecoin.
