Bytecoin is a cryptocurrency created with CryptoNote technology, which provides anonymous transfers of money through the CryptoNote algorithm. It allows users to create multiple unique one-time addresses derived from their single public key, allowing funds to only be redeemed by the receiver and not be linked across multiple payments. While it has similar use cases to Bitcoin, it has an Egalitarian Proof-of-Work consensus algorithm that favors CPU miners over GPU or ASIC miners. While originally the team running the coin was anonymous, they've since made some of themselves known while remaining mostly private. The team has presented new code and a new public API which will boost the coin across the Asian, Middle Eastern and African markets in 2018.
