BlueCoin is an X11 / Proof of Stake hybrid digital currency with an initial Proof of Work mining distribution period lasting 50,000 Blocks. After the initial mining distribution period is over, the network will transition into a PoS algorithm which will reward balance holders on the network a 5% annual interest. This hybrid mining set-up aims to be both ASIC and 51%-attack resistant, with plans to upgrade for even greater resilience. Additionally, the developers are working to add functionalities like GHOST and coin join for improved performance and user anonymity.
