What is BitSong?
BitSong is a distributed (open source) blockchain music ecosystem created to decentralize the music sector by simplifying bureaucracy. It aims to offer artists a meritocratic, transparent, fast, and intermediary-free earning model and users a new way to listen to music and earn money. BitSong is not a streaming platform but a real decentralized ecosystem of services and an active community of artists, music providers, and fans.
Brief History of BitSong
BitSong was conceived in 2018 and the initial intention was for it to become an Ethereum-based application where fans could stream music and artists could receive royalties directly. Later, BitSong became part of a multi-chain environment after the discovery of Cosmos and its ambition to become the "Internet of Blockchains." After launching the main BitSong blockchain in August 2020, the bitsong-2b mainnet went live on October 21, 2021, featuring Fan Tokens, NFTs, and a music streaming platform.
What is BTSG?
BTSG is the ultimate currency for music, powering all features of the BitSong ecosystem. Artists, music industry participants, and fans can use BTSG to buy, sell, and trade Fan Tokens; buy, sell, and trade NFTs; swap BTSG for other cryptocurrencies on centralized and decentralized exchanges; and stake BTSG to a Validator to help secure the network and earn more BTSG as rewards.
