The project BTC20 is a Proof-of-Stake version of Bitcoin built on the Ethereum blockchain, recreating the state of the Bitcoin blockchain and token supply from 2011. By staking $BTC20 tokens, holders can receive a share of the staking rewards, with the amount proportional to the number of tokens staked. BTC20 was launched with a presale that raised $6,050,000 within 12 days. Following this, 14,950,000 BTC20 tokens were locked in a staking contract to reward the participants. The project will have 4-year halvings in a similar fashion to Bitcoin, reducing the simulated block rewards by 50%. The staking of the token serves as both an opportunity to earn passive income and to contribute to the network's security.
