Bitcoin Cash (BCH) is a hard fork of Bitcoin, created to address on-chain capacity issues. The project was launched on August 1st, 2017, as an upgraded version of the original Bitcoin Core software. The primary upgrade is increasing the block size limit from 1MB to 8MB, allowing for faster and cheaper transactions. The main objective of Bitcoin Cash is to bring back the essential qualities of money inherent in the original Bitcoin software, which over time were filtered out of Bitcoin Core due to its 1MB block size limitation. This limitation caused high fees and long transfer times. Bitcoin Cash is a community-activated upgrade that aims to solve these scaling issues by increasing the block size.
