Arbitrum
Arbitrum
Arbitrum is an Ethereum layer 2 scaling solution designed to enhance network throughput and facilitate fast transactions. Developed by Offchain Labs, Arbitrum is optimized to record Ethereum transactions and relay them to the main Ethereum chain at a later point, thereby solving the congestion problem. This approach further reduces gas fees by submitting data in batches, making it cheaper per transaction.
Optimistic Rollup Chain
Arbitrum works as an optimistic rollup chain, assuming the data it submits is valid by default. It utilizes fraud proofs to confirm transactions, which are often lower in both gas fees and off-chain computation costs compared to zero-knowledge rollups. This design maintains a high degree of compatibility with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), making it accessible for both users and developers.
Key Features and Integrated Networks
Arbitrum comprises various products including Arbitrum One and Arbitrum Nova, catering to different needs within the blockchain space. Arbitrum One is suitable for general decentralized applications and prioritizes the Ethereum network's security. Arbitrum Nova, on the other hand, focuses on throughput volume and cost efficiency at the expense of some decentralization. Additionally, Arbitrum includes other tools such as Stylus for high-performance contracts and Orbit for customizable chains.
