Amnis Staked Aptos Coin (STAPT) is a vault that accrues the staking yield of Amnis APT validators. By depositing amAPT into the stAPT vault, users can exchange it for stAPT and earn staking yield on their amAPT. Over time, the staking yield is added to the vault, and an equivalent amount of amAPT is minted, allowing users to redeem their stAPT for a greater amount of amAPT than they initially deposited.
The exchange rate of amAPT per stAPT increases as staking rewards are added to the vault, effectively distributing the staking yield to holders of stAPT proportionally to their share of the total stAPT. This mechanism is similar to other autocompounding tokens like Aave's aUSDC and Compound's cUSDC.
