Alpha Fi
Alpha Fi is an international women's fraternity founded on September 18, 1872, at Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York. It is the fourth oldest Greek-letter organization for women and the first in the northeast region of the United States. The fraternity has 175 active chapters and over 270,000 initiated members worldwide.
Symbolism
The official badge of Alpha Fi features the Greek letter Alpha (Α) resting on the Greek letter Phi (Φ), engraved with the Greek acronym Α.Ο.Ε. The fraternity also recognizes the Ivy Leaf as its primary symbol. The official colors are bordeaux and silver, and the official flowers are the Lily of the Valley and the Forget-me-not. Alpha Fi's public motto is "union hand in hand," and its ideals are centered around Sisterhood, Generosity, Innovation, and Character.
Chapters
As of now, Alpha Fi has 175 active chapters globally. The fraternity is headquartered in Denver, Colorado, and is a member of the National Panhellenic Conference, governing 26 women's fraternities.
Philanthropy
In 1956, Alpha Fi established a Foundation and officially adopted Cardiac Care as its philanthropic priority. The fraternity is actively involved in various charitable endeavors, including community outreach and educational programs.
History
Alpha Fi was founded by ten women who sought to create an organization promoting growth in character, unity of feeling, sisterly affection, and social communion. The fraternity celebrates its Founders Day on October 10.
