The Akita DAO utilizes the ERC-20 governance token called HACHI, which is used by holders of the digital currency AKITA, also known as Akita Inu. This governance token allows its holders to participate in the decision-making process of the Akita DAO, a distributed-leadership community focused on building a long-term ecosystem for its members.

The Akita DAO will utilize its current funding stream from Gitcoin (through Q1 2027) and any future revenue streams to support the development and growth of the ecosystem. By integrating with Snapshot, HACHI holders can vote on proposals that will steer this ecosystem development process. Additionally, HACHI will be used in the future to purchase AKITA tokens.

The AKITA token was launched on the Ethereum network on February 1, 2021, with a maximum supply of 100 trillion (100,000,000,000,000) AKITA tokens. Notably, there are no taxes or fees incurred during transfers, sells, or buys of AKITA. Half of the supply was sent to Vitalik Buterin's wallet, an experiment aimed at effectively burning these tokens.

The community also maintains various channels for discussion and networking, including a Telegram channel and a forthcoming Discourse platform.
